WALT SPECHT: Trick shooting the stuff of TV
WALT SPECHT
Even expert shots aim for center mass. It is the biggest target area.
Whomever started this B.S. that one can shoot a gun out of a hand, or shoot to wound, has never been under the stress of a gunfight. Life isn’t TV. It is a life-or-death struggle out there and people take the path that will maintain their life.
If an individual is twice your size and three times your weight, odds are that unless you use some form of equalizer, you will lose a physical confrontation. If an individual is within a seven-yard circle of you, they can injure or kill you before they die from any wound not to a motor center that can kill them.
So don’t have unrealistic expectations of “super cop.” The average officer is a lot like you. They have fears, they do get scared and they often react to a threat as you would. They don’t like pain, and they don’t want to die.
So let us give them the benefit of being human and address the one that provoked the incident. People make choices they need to be held accountable for, even if you don’t like the outcome.
