Woman dies in single-car accident in Lee County
Staff reports
ALBANY — A 32-year-old woman was killed in a Monday-morning single-car accident from which a young boy was airlifted with apparent severe injuries.
The Lee County Coroner’s Office was not releasing the name of the victim as of mid-afternoon on Monday to ensure that all family members had been informed first, Deputy Coroner Bobby Watkins said.
The accident occurred at about 9 a.m. on Old Leesburg Road, he said. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident. It appears the driver of the car, in which there also was a 3-month-old child who has been released from a local hospital, left the roadway and lost control.
The 9-year-old boy was taken to Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta, Watkins said.
