ANN & JOHN COOMBE: Albany is the epitome of South hospitality
LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Reception in Albany eased stress from evacuation

I had to write to express my sincere appreciation to your town (and its citizens) for making a very difficult, stressful situation much better.
My husband and I evacuated our home in Sarasota, Fla., on Thursday, Sept. 7. We left late in the day. Traffic was horrendous. Gas was almost nonexistent. Nerves were frayed.
We arrived in Albany around 3:30 a.m. Friday. We were greeted with a smile and a very nice hotel room. The next day we ventured out as we tried to decide what our next move was. We ended up spending a second night here.
Albany is a beautifulSsouthern town. We went to lunch (and eventually dinner) at the Harvest Moon. Your citizens (every one) were unbelievably welcoming … friendly … warm. Your beautiful city made a very stressful situation so much better.
Thank you all for true Southern hospitality! We will be back to visit — under better circumstances and when we can stay longer.

P.S. — Our prayers are now with all of you that Irma doesn’t wreak havoc on this lovely place!
