B.J. FLETCHER: It’s time to stand up for your values

Memorial Day is on my mind. Looking at the history of that day, one can do their own research and find out the true meaning of Memorial Day, why we celebrate it, how it was purposely made a three-day weekend, etc.

Families, Hollywood, sports figures, etc. used to really go out of their way to make that a day of reflection on the reason we love and have a safe place to call home. Many went to gravesites, wore special pins, attended church, displayed their flags, all to honor the men and woman who made that three-day holiday special.

Well, those days are about gone. I watch all the companies and people who now seem to go out of their way to do the exact opposite of what they used to do. Why? What changed their view? Why do we now have to suffer through their opinions and get berated if we don’t think like they do? Why do we watch our government officials and their inner fighting daily trying to shove their way of thinking down our throats?

It’s really quite simple It’s just like all of the parents in the world that raise their children the best they can and then one day they wake up and wonder: How did my child become a …? Good or bad, you influenced that child. You either stayed on top of the raising of your child and guided them toward some kind of normal and caring attitude toward their country, their loved ones or friends or either you were too busy “doing your thing” and you missed the fact that something just wasn’t quite right with what your child, friend, neighbor or workplace was becoming.

Like today. Everyday we hear how Congress has the power of the purse. Do you believe that? Do you believe that all 435 members of Congress are going to “fix” our problems? I don’t. Not without knowing that I have to do my part.

You see, I realize that I have the power of the penny. The power of the vote. The power to pray and ask God to help me best decide what company, what political person to back.

I watch celebrities, politicians and companies that at one time needed you. After all. You made these people. You are the reason they are fifty rich. You watched their talk shows, supported their campaigns, purchased their product and boy did they love you.

Now, you are nothing to them. They hate you, your values, your very way of living. You don’t think and feel like they do, so you are nothing to them.

How can they do this? Because you are still supporting their ways of life. You still watch their games, buy their products, follow them on social media, etc., while at the same time they hate you.

It’s time to stand up for yourself, your family, your values. Get in the know. I truly believe with every fiber of my being that one day we all will stand before God and have to answer to Him. What did you do with what I gave you?

He has given us all something. And with that something, we are to do our part in trying to live and help others the best we can. Help the ones that want to help themselves.

So maybe, with Memorial Day coming up, you can start a new tradition. Do something nice for someone that’s really needing your kind words, and support people and places that support you, that support our ways of loving our country, our America. Celebrate and honor the men and woman in those graves that fought for us; soon there won’t be anything to celebrate.

Many feel that you have two choices in life: heaven or hell. You also have two choices while you are on this earth: To support decaying America or support morals. You decide. After all, it’s your future you are fighting for. Do your part. Quit expecting others to fight your battles. God loves America. You should, too.
