BEN BAKER: Shining armor not always seen

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: We’d love to find a way to repay you

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

By Ben Baker

It was one of those calls Dads do not want to hear.

“Daddy, I’m on the side of the road.”

While my daughter is quite capable of taking care of herself, still. Daughter. Night. Side of the road. On the way to get her and get the vehicle towed to a shop, I kept worrying.

What I did not know is a gent stopped almost as soon as she did. He stayed with her the entire time it took for me to get from my Turner County house to the north side of Albany. He even asked if it was OK to stay with her.

I seriously wanted to shake his hand, express my heartfelt gratitude, but could not. As soon as my daughter verified it was me pulling up behind them, he left.

Sometimes, knights in shining armor don’t always wear their armor so it can be seen.

In case you read this, know the vehicle is back on the road, an important lesson was learned and all is well.

Sir, whomever you are and wherever you go, please know that the Baker Clan is in your debt. We’d love to find a way to repay you. Until then, these few simple words will have to suffice.
