Black voters should support four commissioners

I am Dr. Henry M. Brown, a registered voting voter in Albany, Dougherty County, Georgia. I am writing to all registered voters in Albany and Dougherty County. Let us stand together. I am asking everyone of you to stand in support of all four of our current County Commissioners. Let us not be swayed by the media and the powers that be.

I am so glad that we have four commissioners that are standing strong and standing together. When we stand together, the media does everything it can to divide us. When the powers that be are in the majority, they do whatever they please, and little or almost nothing is said against them by the media. They want to divide us. Please wake up, see and understand what is going on in our city and county.

Remember how the media did Mrs. Juanita Cribb when she ran for mayor of Albany. They kept her in the media because she stood up for what she believed, and many of you fell for it by voting against her or not voting at all. Let us not fall for it this time. We must vote and vote to re-elect them. They want weak blacks on the commission so they can still call the shots. This is not happening with this four strong black men and woman.

The media did not complain when we did not want the schools closed. The make-up of the School Board was in their favor, and they closed them anyway. Did they care about what we wanted? Did the media complain when we did not get what we wanted? No. They cared less.

These four people are standing strong, standing together just as the others do when they are in control. The powers that be are upset because these commissioners cannot and will not be controlled by them. If the majority were white on the commission and they voted not to hire him, would the media be doing all they can to defeat them? I do not think so.

I am asking all of us to stand behind these commissioners. Let us re-elect all of them that are up for re-election. I still believe they are doing overall what is best for our county. The only one ever to live that got it right every time is Jesus. I have prayed about this, and in my spirit I feel we all should support our current commissioners and stand up for them as they stand up for us. Please vote to re-elect each of them. Please get and stay focused. Please get up and vote. Your vote does count. Vote on or before May 22 and reelect these strong men and woman. This is what we need on all the commissions and boards.
