CARLTON FLETCHER: Trump anointed by Jesus? I don’t think so

Russia and China have been saber-rattling, talking about using nuclear weapons, and staunch U.S. allies are turning their backs on Trump and the sycophants in his cabinet.

You fasten all the triggers, For the others to fire. Then you sit back and watch When the death count gets higher. You hide in your mansion While the young people’s blood Flows out of their bodies And is buried in the mud.

— Bob Dylan

Something to make the “Trump Christians” shout hallelujah:

A U.S. military commander told a group of non-commissioned officers that President Trump was “anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth,” according to a complaint filed with a religious freedom watchdog.

The anonymous complaint was provided to the Military Religious Freedom Foundation by one of the NCOs in attendance at the briefing that included representatives of 15 troops. Of those in attendance, 11 were Christians, one Muslim, one Jewish, and two atheists.

“He urged us to tell our troops that this was ‘all part of God’s divine plan,’ and he specifically referenced numerous citations out of the Book of Revelation referring to Armageddon and the imminent return of Jesus,” the complaining NCO said.

Officials with the Military Religious Freedom Foundation said they’ve received “well in excess of 200 complaints” already about the comments from across the military.

Now, are people who read the Bible justified in their concerns that, yes, the prophecies about Armageddon and the “end times” do line up with the things that are going on now with Trump – without Congressional approval, but with a big ole hug from his pal Netanyahu – ordering the bombings of sites in Iran and other countries in that region? Sure they are.

And, yes, we know that God works in mysterious ways, but Him using two of the world’s most sinister individuals – Netanyahu and Trump – to carry out his master plan? I’m just not seeing it.

This whole scenario – which a great many people believe is partially an attempt by Trump to divert attention away from increasingly disturbing material leaking from the Epstein Files – from the “Peace President” has the world on edge, wondering if perhaps this will turn into World War III.

Russia and China have been saber-rattling, talking about using nuclear weapons, and staunch U.S. allies are turning their backs on Trump and the sycophants in his cabinet. Spain, Britain and other allies have refused to allow U.S. troops to use their military bases for staging areas, leading to – of course – Trump saying the U.S. didn’t really have to get their permission.

With the U.S. economy already in free-fall, and now gas and oil prices soaring upward, more disturbing news is coming out from some of our country’s heretofore staunchest allies. Canada and India have signed a no-tarriff trade agreement that will take a huge bite out of America’s export/import balance sheet.

Hey, we may very well be heading into the end times. The pieces are lining up in the Middle East to bring about, if not Armageddon, a world-involved war that will leave all of us vulnerable and threaten the lives of tens of millions.

All because the egos of two men who will go down in history alongside creatures like Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Papa Doc and other villains prodded them to take actions that, rather than carrying out the will of the people who elected them, stands to completely disrupt their way of life.Email Carlton Fletcher at [email protected].
