LETTER TO THE EDITOR: U.S. medical system is too cumbersome

Why change the healthcare system now? We could create our version of Australia’s or Canada’s health care system. Our system would be compatible with West Europe, Canada and Australia.
If you travel to these countries, bitten by a bug or insect and become ill, the medical field could attend you immediately, whereas our present system requires their medical facilities to contact your healthcare provider and authorize your treatment. If you have seconds to live, the insurance may take minutes/hours to provide an answer.
Why can your insurance company provide individual life and health coverage? The health care insurance would answer their medical inquiry within seconds. (Save your life and raise your premiums, later.)
