LETTER TO THE EDITOR: God is on the side of Israel in war with Hamas
By Elizabeth Hinesley
To the Editor:
It never ceases to amaze me that there could be so many calls for restraint on the part of Israel and no calls for restraint on the part of Hamas. I listened recently to a brilliant analysis on the Israel-Hamas war by a distinguished international leader, appropriately describing the attack as a terrorist act — with no qualifications. Yet in his next sentence, he was immediately calling for restraint on the part of Israel.
Is this some kind of herd mentality? What is it with all of the oppressive spirit toward Israel when Israel is the moral upright nation — not perfect but doing everything possible to avoid harm to civilians, even jeopardizing her own position in the conflict by intermittent cease-fires?
It is obvious Hamas has observed no moral restraint, even maintaining the stated commitment of genocide of the Jewish nation, having committed the most inhumane atrocities against Israel imaginable. Yet no one sees any need to demand restraint on Hamas, which is even using Palestinian civilians as human shields. Israel has been given a divine mandate: end the evil she allowed in her nation through the Oslo accords.
Fortunately, the Lord does choose sides. Between such obvious good versus evil, God is on the side of the good — especially for the nation of Israel, which He has promised will endure.
May God bless Netanyahu and the Israeli military forces, blessing His beloved nation of Israel, blessing all those nations and leaders standing beside Israel and Jewish people.
