LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Netanyahu will leave a legacy of shame in Israel

Dear Mr. Fletcher

Ever since I read “Exodus,” written by Leon Uris, when I was in high school, I have admired the state of Israel.

Israel has been blessed with leaders who are statesmen and women, rather than mere politicians. Consider the legacies of David Ben Gurion, Golda Meir, Shimon Peres, Yitzak Rabin and others. They were leaders with vision enough to look beyond current political challenges to advance the interests of Israel without crushing Israel’s neighbors.

The thousands of civilian casualties in Gaza resulting from the war on Hamas are going to hang around the neck of Israelis for a very long time.

Long after Benjamin Netanyahu is convicted of corruption by the Israeli Justice Department and sent to prison, Israelis will regret allowing this sleazy politician to enrage the Palestinians by first telling them that he is going to seize more land on the West Bank for Israeli homes and then using the sledgehammer of air assault to make more than 2 million innocent civilians homeless and 20,000 of them dead, in an effort to kill a few hundred terrorists.
