State Bar president praises attorney
By Kenneth Hodges
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I would like to express congratulations to attorney David J. Rowland of Albany, who retired this year after 38 years of service, on receiving the Department of the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award.
Mr. Rowland was appropriately recognized for his 30 years with the Navy Office of the General Counsel, including 23 years with the Marine Court Logistics Command and MCLB-Albany. He also earned Meritorious Civilian Service Awards in 2003 and 2005. Among other successes, Mr. Rowland was honored for his legal support in awarding more than $5 billion in contracts to support Marine Corps service members, his successful defense of a multimillion-dollar groundwater contamination lawsuit and the successful resolution of the Navy’s largest employment discrimination class action case.
Mr. Rowland’s accomplished career of service to the public and the justice system is an inspiration to his fellow members of the State Bar of Georgia. We add our congratulations on receiving this prestigious award.
