TAMI MCCOY: Albany community is one of unity
LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Albany holds true to tradition of helping others
By Tami McCoy
The past couple of weeks after the storm that hit our area have been full of so many emotions in all of us in the community. This community has and always will remain the most generous community. Albany holds true to southern traditions such as hospitality and helping neighbors. We have witnessed such acts in the floods of 1994, 1998 and now the storm of 2017. Nothing amazes me more than seeing caring people helping one another when hard times fall to show love for their community and for one another.
Just witnessing some of the acts of kindness coming out in the days after the storm has put so much in prospective. Churches and businesses opened up shelters to help take in people who were without power from the cold, businesses contributed donations to help get the community back into motion, and local organizations and volunteers donated their time and efforts to help clean up and give workers food. We all need to be thankful we live in Albany, Georgia because we are a community of unity.
