TARA FLETCHER: Every day is sweet icing on life’s cake

I’ve been pretty busy for the past few months, so I haven’t taken a lot of time to slow down and really relax. For that reason, this very moment — sitting on our comfy couch in stretchy pants and a T-shirt, in a room just the right temperature, with a wonderful man — is perfect.

I was compelled to share this because I just realized the year is almost over, and we’ve about made it through. Some didn’t, sadly, but for whatever reason we were given this gift.

Every year, if we’re lucky, we’re allowed 365 days. Each of those days is not just a 24-hour period; they’re minutes added to our timelines. Not our Facebook timelines, the real stories of our lives.

Tomorrows are bonuses that we get to use in whatever way we see fit. Maybe if we opened our eyes each day with that understanding, we will be more likely to use that bonus time to be better people, learn something new, improve our health, repair relationships, better our communities, share our talents and make other positive changes.

With Christmas right around the corner and the new year only days behind, I have resolved to carry this sense of calm and happiness throughout the holiday season and into the upcoming year. May 2025 be filled with love and joy, and regardless of what unfolds, remember every day from this point forward will be like sweet icing on the cake.
