Taxpayers want answers in McCoy decision

I’ve waited, perhaps, too long, to hear the reason, or reasons, that the four Afro-Americans on the Dougherty County Commission decided to take the stand they have in the McCoy case. No such explanation has been offered to the citizens of this community.
“Right is right — wrong needs no help.” Dr. Willie Adams
FACT: Mr. McCoy has had a stellar performance as Assistant County Administrator under Mr. Richard Crowdis.
FACT: Mr. Crowdis recommended Mr. McCoy to be considered as his replacement.
FACT: Other commissioners, along with the chairman (non-Afro-Americans), voted in favor of awarding the position to Mr. McCoy.
FACT: At least two searches revealed that Mr. McCoy surfaced as the top candidate. (I’m anxious to see what the third search will reveal — also the total cost for said search.)
FACT: Within the past few weeks, Mr. McCoy received statewide recognition for his performance during this city and county’s darkest moments in recent history.
FACT: Mr. McCoy is an outstanding family man and Christian!!!
I wonder, if four non-Afro-Americans had voted to deny Mr. McCoy this position, what would the reaction from the local Afro-American community and our black ministers have been?
I certainly may not be privileged to all the facts as to why the four commissioners made such a decision, but I, along with many in this community who believe in honesty and fairness, are anxiously awaiting an explanation.
After all, we as taxpayers, stand to pay the bill!!
