The Georgia Public Service Commission recently approved the 2025 Integrated Resource Plan, setting the course for how our state produces and delivers power in the years ahead.

Conservatives for Clean Energy Georgia applauds the commission for its leadership and its strong focus on transmission upgrades, which are essential to keeping energy reliable and affordable.

Transmission lines are the highways of our electric grid. They move power from where it is generated to where it is needed most. Without them, even the best power plants and solar projects cannot keep the lights on in homes, schools and businesses across Georgia.

The Commission’s plan invests in projects that will carry power more effectively from south Georgia to north Georgia, where growth is fastest. It also looks beyond the next decade, making sure we plan ahead for rising demand, new industries, and changing energy resources.

That forward thinking reflects the conservative principles we stand for: Prepare today to avoid higher costs tomorrow.

At Conservatives for Clean Energy Georgia, our goal is simple: advance energy policies that strengthen reliability, protect ratepayers, and encourage innovation in ways that keep Georgia competitive. The commission’s focus on re-using existing rights of way, upgrading current lines, and deploying advanced technologies delivers on that mission. These strategies are practical, cost conscious, and forward looking.

Georgia has long been an energy leader in the South. With this plan, the Public Service Commission has once again shown its commitment to reliable and affordable power that supports families, farmers and businesses. Transmission may not make headlines, but it is the backbone of a strong economy and a brighter future.

The next step is additional regional planning. Electrons do not stop at state borders, and there are far more solutions from regional planning than not.
