Bryant grand slam lifts Albany State over Emmanuel

ALBANY, Ga. Albany State’s Kevin Bryant knocked out a grand slam in the third inning Sunday to life the Golden Rams to a 5-1 victory over Emmanuel College and avoid the sweep.
After falling behind 1-0 in the 3rd inning, ASU loaded the bases in the home half and Bryant II connected with that grand slam over the right field wall to put the hosts ahead for good.
Bryant II finished 2-for-4 with four RBI. Kyle Walker went 2-for-4 and Gavin Sloan was 2-for-2 and earned a walk.
Malik Barrington (2-0) picked up the win after going 8.0 innings, striking out eight, and giving up one run.
Chasen Roulhac pitched a perfect 9th for ASU to close out the game.
On Saturday, the Golden Rams took a multi-run lead into the 9th inning but failed to close out the game with the win. Emanuel came from behind to beat Albany State 8-7.
After a scoreless top half of the 1st, Kevin Bryant II got the scoring going for the hosts with a double down the right field line to plate Ernis Reyes.
Both teams pushed two runs each across the plate in the second inning. ASU played small ball, aided by an Emmanuel error to score Kyle Walker and Quantico Dodson-Williams.
It was all ASU over the next three innings as the Golden Rams scored four runs on four hits, highlighted by a 2-RBI double to right field by Johnathan Cirullo on their way to a 7-3 lead entering the 8th inning.
The Lions offense came alive over the final six outs, scoring five runs on five hits capped off by a sacrifice fly by Jorge Villal to give the visitors a 8-7 lead.
Roman Oliu picked up a no-decision in 7.0 innings of work.
Tre Turner (0-1) took the loss, going 1.2 innings and striking out four batters.
Albany State (3-3) travels to Valdosta State on Wednesday, February 13th. Game time is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
