Cooper Blauser stars in Wesleyan’s season-opening win over Mount Pisgah

JOHNS CREEK — Wesleyan started the football season with a convincing, 45-14 win at Mount Pisgah on Friday night.

Cooper Blauser had 10 catches for 204 yards and three touchdowns, along with a rushing TD and an interception on defense, to lead the Wolves, state finalists in Class A Private last season.

In his first start at Wesleyan, quarterback Ryan Rose completed 17 of 24 passes for 263 yards and three touchdowns.

“(Rose) did a great job managing our offense,” Wesleyan head coach Franklin Pridgen said.

Griffin Caldwell rushed six times for 116 yards for the Wolves, who turned a 17-0 halftime lead into a 38-0 lead in the third quarter.

“The offensive line did a great job, and Griffin did a great job, of controlling the game,” Pridgen said.

Tanner Bivins had five tackles, two sacks and two pass breakups, in addition to grading 88 percent on the offensive line. Andrew Van Wie had an interception and a TD catch.

“It was a really complete game for us, especially with no scrimmage and no 7-on-7,” Pridgen said. “It couldn’t have gone any better for us.”
