LEESBURG – In a packed lecture hall overlooking the Lee County football field, five Lee County seniors made their college football commitments official Wednesday on National Signing Day. However, the event wasn’t without its share of drama.

The biggest surprise came from star running back Ousmane Kromah, who flipped his commitment from Georgia to Florida State. Kromah, a four-star recruit and the owner of multiple Lee County rushing records, had pledged to the Bulldogs in October. On Wednesday, he stunned the crowd by announcing a change in plans.

“I am announcing today that I am flipping my commitment, and I will sign today with Florida State University,” Kromah said to the audience.

After the announcement, Kromah did not speak with the media. Instead, he headed straight to the locker room to prepare for practice as the Trojans gear up for Friday night’s state semifinal matchup against Milton.

The drama didn’t stop there. Defensive standout Jeramiah McCloud, who had previously committed to the Florida Gators, added his own twist to the day. When it was his turn, McCloud initially put on an LSU hat and announced his decision to join the Tigers. Moments later, he called a family member to the front, swapped the LSU gear for a Florida hat and sweatshirt, and celebrated with the signature Gator Chomp.

Meanwhile, two other Lee County seniors, quarterback Weston Bryan and offensive lineman Jace Molden, officially signed with Georgia Southern in Statesboro. Offensive lineman Dylan Richardson, known for his versatility in the trenches, committed to Charleston Southern University, where he’ll join former Albany State head coach Gabe Giardina.

While the day was full of excitement, the focus for these Trojans quickly shifted back to their ultimate goal—earning a trip to the state championship.
