Player of the Week: Quay Sheard, Lee County
Lee County needed somebody to carry the football Friday night in Moultrie.
Sophomore Quay Sheard carried the Trojans.
Pressed into an expanded role with starting running backs Dominique Ball and Jordan Bush sidelined by injuries, Sheard rushed for 202 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries in Lee County’s 48-30 victory over Colquitt County.
His biggest run came on the first play of the second half. With the score tied 21-21, Sheard burst free for an 80-yard touchdown that put the No. 2 Trojans ahead to stay.
For stepping into the lineup and delivering the biggest performance of his young career, Sheard is the Albany Herald’s Friday Night Five Player of the Week.
