LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Georgia gymnastics team fell to the Kentucky Wildcats, 197.950- 195.650, on Friday night in Rupp Arena.

Georgia added two freshmen to the lineup tonight with Holly Snyder making her debut on bars and Zora Morgan on beam. Freshman Lily Smith competed all-around for the first time, adding vault to her repertoire. In all, six freshmen competed 14 routines against the Cats.

“I’m really disappointed,” head coach Courtney Kupets Carter said. “This has been a tough start to the season with the injuries we’ve endured and the sicknesses we had this week. This is not who we are as a team.”

The GymDogs started on bars, scoring a 48.975. Snyder and Smith led the charge, both scoring a 9.850.

Georgia scored a 49.125 on vault in the second rotation- their best of the meet. Freshman Ady Wahl notched a season-high 9.925 with her Yurchenko one and a half. Senior Katie Finnegan followed with a 9.850 and Smith added a 9.800. Ashlyn La Clair, Ja Free Scott, and Jaydah Battle all scored a 9.775.

Moving onto floor, the GymDogs scored a 49.025. Smith led the rotation with a 9.900, followed by a 9.875 from Wahl and La Clair.

Finishing on beam, Georgia added a 48.525 to the total. Sophomore led the squad with a 9.825 from the anchor position.

The GymDogs are back home in Stegeman Coliseum next week to take on the Florida Gators on Friday, February 2. The teams will tumble into action at 7 p.m. on the SEC Network.
