Lee County Trojans (1-0) at Bainbridge Bearcats (0-0)

• When: 7:30 p.m.

• Site: Centennial Field, Bainbridge

• Overview: After a trip to the state semifinals last year, Bainbridge is anxious to begin its season. Lee County won a thrilling 20-13 contest over Jones County in last week’s Corky Kell Classic. These two teams were once in the same region. It will be a good nonregion game for both schools.

• Site: Turner County High School, Ashburn

• Overview: After getting routed by Thomas County Central last week, Worth County plays its second straight game on the road. The Rams hope for a better showing against the Rebels. Turner County defeated Dougherty last week in its season opener and hopes to continue its positive momentum.

Mitchell County Eagles (0-0) at Albany Indians (0-1)

• When: 7:30 p.m.

• Site: Hugh Mills Stadium, Albany

• Overview: This has become a pretty good rivalry for both schools. Mitchell County seeks to open its season with a positive start. They start a nine-game region schedule next week. Albany lost 21-12 to Pelham last week and they hope for a better showing against the Eagles.

Pelham Hornets (1-0) at Baconton Charter Blazers (1-0)

• When: 7:30 p.m.

• Site: Centennial Stadium, Camilla

• Overview: Region play starts for both Pelham and Baconton Charter Friday night after both schools notched season-opening victories last week. Pelham has held the upperhand in this Mitchell County rivalry, but Baconton hopes to change that.

Miller County Pirates (0-0) at Terrell County Greenwave (0-1)

• When: 7:30 p.m.

• Site: Terrell County Stadium, Dawson

• Overview: These two teams battled last season for a postseason berth. With the Region 1-A schedule opening Friday, the winner gets a leg up in the region standings. Miller defeated Deerfield-Windsor 28-27 in overtime in a scrimmage last week, while Terrell County looks to shake off a season-opening loss at Taylor County.

Schley County Wildcats (0-1) at Calhoun County Cougars (0-0)

• When: 7:30 p.m.

• Site: Calhoun County High, Edison

• Overview: Calhoun County opens its season against nonregion foe Schley County. The Cougars, after not winning a game last year, seek to start off on the winning track. Schley County lost 42-0 to Class A public power Marion County in its season opener last week.

Pataula Charter Panthers (0-1) at Webster County Bobcats (0-0)

• When: 7:30 p.m.

Deerfield-Windsor Knights (1-1) at North Florida Christian Eagles (0-0)

• When: 7:30 p.m.

• Site: North Florida Christian, Tallahassee, Fla.

• Overview: Deerfield-Windsor hits the road for the second straight week to play perennial Florida power North Florida Christian. The matchup should give the young Eagles a good idea of where they stand before they hit the meat of their schedule.

Westwood Wildcats (1-1) at Southland Raiders (1-0))

• When: 7:30 p.m.

• Site: Southland Academy, Americus

• Overview: The former GISA Region 3-AAA rivals meet for a nonregion game. Westwood looks to shake off last week’s loss to Windsor, while Southland looks to improve to 2-0. The Raiders beat powerful Westfield 12-6 in their season opener last week.

Heritage Hawks (2-0) at Terrell Academy Eagles (0-1)

• When: 7:30 p.m.

• Site: Don Beard Field, Dawson

• Overview: After losing a late lead and falling at Brookwood last week, Terrell Academy seeks its first victory against unbeaten Heritage Friday night. The Hawks have beaten Windsor and Flint River Academy by a combined 83-32 in their first two games.

Griffin Christian Crusaders (0-1) at Sherwood Christian Eagles (0-1)

• When: 7:30 p.m.

• Site: Sherwood Christian, Albany

• Overview: Both teams were shut out last week — Griffin Christian lost 42-0 to Community Christian, while Sherwood lost 61-0 to Fullington Academy. Both teams are seeking some positive momentum.

Saturday’s Game

Westover Patriots (0-0) at Monroe Tornadoes (0-0)

• When: 7 p.m.

• Site: Hugh Mills Stadium, Albany

• Overview: The season opener for Albany’s two largest public high schools. Monroe has taken the last two, including last season’s 44-24 victory. The Patriots are seeking to rebound from last year’s 2-9 finish, while Monroe hopes to return to the state playoffs after a two-year absence. The two schools are in different classifications and regions, so Saturday’s nonregion game is for nothing more than bragging rights.
