Josiah Parker scores 42 but Leesburg Lee County loses to Sandy Springs Riverwood in OT

LEESBURG- Junior All-State guard Josiah Parker scored 42 points Wednesday night but the Lee County Trojans were the only Albany-area team to lose Wednesday night in the first round of the state basketball playoffs. Riverwood of Sandy Springs beat the Trojans 87-84 in overtime to advance to the Sweet 16 and end Lee County’s basketball season.

The Trojans and the Raiders went back and forth all night. The Trojans held a slight lead after one quarter, 23-20 but Lee County took control early in the second quarter. Parker swished a long three with a defender in his face to start the quarter, then Braden Moore got loose on a fast break for a slam dunk and Lee County had 28-20 lead.

The Raiders recovered however, slowing down the game and taking the speed element away from the Trojans. A last-second shot before the half put Riverview ahead 45-40 heading into the break.

The Trojans and the Raiders finished the game tied 78-78 and the Trojans fell just short in overtime.

Parker’s 42 led Lee County, Moore put in 24 and Ousmane Kromah added nine.

The Trojans finish the season 23-4.
