Lee County drops three spots in writers’ poll

Tucker takes over at No. 1 in Class 6A following Lee County’s loss at Valdosta

Lee County’s 31-28 loss at Valdosta on Friday cost the Trojans three spots in the Georgia Sports Writers Association Class 6A football poll.

Ranked first prior to the loss, Lee County (8-1) dropped three spots into a tie for fourth with Harrison. The Trojans retained one first-place vote.

Tucker moved up one spot into the top position, picking up first-place votes on 13 ballots. Mays moved up from third to second, capturing two first-place votes, while Coffee jumped from seventh to third.

Lee County is off this week, then it will conclude the regular season with a Nov. 3 home game against Coffee.

No other Albany-area team picked up votes.
