LEESBURG — The Lee County Lady Trojans volleyball team has had a difficult start this season after winning four straight region championships and graduating five seniors.

However, they improved their season record to 3-6 earlier this week by beating both Valdosta and Warner Robins in a dual match Thursday afternoon.

The Lady Wildcats put up a big fight in the first match, but the Lady Trojans won 25-19, 23-25, and 20-18.

In the Warner Robins match, the Lady Trojans jumped out to an 8-1 lead behind the serves of Madison Cole. Warner Robins closed the gap. Carley Reese then got the hot hand and moved the Lady Trojans near the finish line before Callie Crosson hit three straight serves to give Lee County a 25-12 win in the first set.

In the second set, it was Kayln Taczy who had seven straight serves to push the Lady Trojans ahead and take a 12-4 lead. Lee County took the win in the second set 25-17.

Lee County lost to Whitewater (Fayetteville) Saturday 25-18, 25-11.

The Lady Trojans will host Byne Christian Monday afternoon and Lowndes Tuesday. Both matches begin at 5 p.m.
