NHL roundup: Rangers halt 5-game skid

NEW YORK — Kevin Hayes had a goal and an assist as the New York Rangers snapped a five-game losing streak with a 4-2 win against the Nashville Predators at Madison Square Garden on Saturday afternoon.
Henrik Lundqvist made 23 saves, including all nine he faced in the third period with the Predators pushing for the tying goal. Jimmy Vesey scored into an empty net with 38.5 seconds remaining to seal the victory.
The Predators outshot the Rangers 9-3 in the third period. Chris Kreider and Jesper Fast also scored for New York.
The Predators received goals from Mattias Ekholm and Filip Forsberg. Backup goaltender Juuse Saros stopped 11 shots.
Flyers 2, Oilers 1
PHILADELPHIA — Wayne Simmonds netted his team-high sixth goal of the season with 2:15 remaining in regulation to give Philadelphia the win over Edmonton.
Center Claude Giroux also scored for the Flyers and goaltender Brian Elliott stopped 23 of 24 shots to pick up his fourth win of the season (4-1-0). The win was the Flyers’ third in four games.
Patrick Maroon scored the only goal for the Oilers, who have dropped five of their last six games after starting the season with a win over Calgary. Oilers captain Connor McDavid was held without a point for just the second time in seven games.
