No. 1-ranked Worth County fries Bacon, 52-14

SYLVESTER — The Worth County Rams’ touchdown cannon got plenty of use Friday night. By the time the smoke cleared, the Rams were still undefeated — and their homecoming crowd had witnessed another offensive fireworks show.

Worth County scored seven touchdowns, hit seven extra points, and added a field goal on the way to a 52–14 rout of Bacon County, improving to 9–0 on the season.

The game began with a brief moment of suspense — and then became all Rams. Bacon County recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff, but any hope the Raiders had of keeping pace disappeared on the next play when Chance Sims intercepted a pass from quarterback Scottland Hennesy and returned it to the Raiders’ 30-yard line.

From there, the Rams’ offense — led by quarterback Lydon Worthy — took command. Worthy connected with Kaden Chester on a long completion to the 15, and a few plays later Treshaun Jones powered in from two yards out. Brodey Hancock’s PAT made it 7–0, and the rout was on.

Worth County’s balance on offense and aggression on defense overwhelmed Bacon County throughout the first half. Worthy found Colby Griffis for a big gain to set up a 20-yard touchdown run by Chester, then connected with Griffis again for a 23-yard scoring pass that stretched the lead to 21–0 by the end of the first quarter.

Moments later, Tray Matthews delivered a defensive highlight of his own, intercepting a pass and returning it 25 yards for a touchdown with just 12 seconds left in the quarter. Hancock’s extra point made it 28–0.

The Rams’ defensive front, featuring Brady Weaver and King Toomer, spent much of the night in the Raiders’ backfield. Bacon County was forced to punt repeatedly, setting up short fields for Worth County’s offense.

In the second quarter, Worthy found Jaquaveon Nelson on a 15-yard touchdown pass to make it 35–0. After another interception — Matthews’ second of the game — Chester added his second rushing score from two yards out for a 42–0 advantage.

Worth County closed the half in style. After a fumble recovery by Dewight Council, Worthy hit Jayden Farley on a 64-yard touchdown pass to push the score to 49–0 at halftime.

The Rams added one more score in the third quarter when Hancock booted a 25-yard field goal, extending the lead to 52–0.

Bacon County finally broke through in the fourth quarter after Hennesy left the game with an injury. Receiver Amar’e Ryals took over at quarterback and threw two touchdown passes — a strike to Santiago Bizzell and a 10-yard toss to Isaiah Thomas — to close the gap to 52–14.

By then, the result had long been decided. Worth County’s dominance — 49 points in the first half alone — reaffirmed why the Rams have become one of South Georgia’s most dangerous teams.
