PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Pelham girls roll past Mitchell County

PELHAM — The Pelham girls started the season with a convincing win over Mitchell County.

Friday night, they defeated the Lady Eagles for the second time this season, taking a 54-41 victory at Pelham High School.

Pelham improved to 19-1 and 12-0 in Region 1-A play. Herald Super 6er Destiny Thomas led the Lady Hornets with 18 points. Mahogany Brown, who drilled five 3-point baskets in the game, finished with 17 points, while Herald Super 6er Mahogany Randall finished with 10 points.

Pelham will host Seminole County at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Terrell Academy girls 71, Highland Christian 36

Terrell Academy rolled to a Georgia Independent Schools Association Region 3-AA victory over Highland Christian. Hannah Harrell led the Lady Eagles with 15 points, while Jenna Cuff and Erin Horne finished with 11 and 10 points respectively.

Terrell Academy will play at Deerfield-Windsor at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Brookwood girls 58, Deerfield-Windsor 42

Deerfield-Windsor dropped a GISA Region 3-AAA game at Brookwood. The Lady Knights fell to 8-10 overall, 3-2 in region play.

Patsy Cartee led the Lady Knights with 15 points, while Emilee Foy added 10.

Jordan Thompson led Brookwood with 16 points.

Deerfield-Windsor will play host to Terrell Academy Tuesday night in a nonregion game.

Deerfield-Windsor boys 33, Brookwood 31

The Deerfield-Windsor boys maintained its share of the first-place lead in the GISA Region 3-AAA standings with a victory at Brookwood.

The Knights (10-6, 4-1) were led by Raj Patel and Shannon Moseley, who scored seven points apiece.

Terrell Academy boys 79, Highland Christian 66

Terrell Academy rolled past Highland Christian in a key Region 3-AA game. The Eagles (17-4, 4-1) were led by Herald Super 6er Jalin Wimberly’s 26 points. Jared Donalson scored 24 points, while Zeb Waters added 11.

Sherwood Christian boys 79, Covenant 63

Sherwood Christian took a key road victory over Covenant. The Eagles improved to 15-3 overall and sit in the driver seat in region play. Sherwood Christian will play host to Central Fellowship on Tuesday.
