PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The No. 6 Georgia Southwestern State University men’s golf team fired a program-record 19-under-par 269 in Tuesday’s final round to finish runner-up at The National Preview at PGA National Resort’s The Champion Course.

GSW finished the 54-hole tournament at 23-under 841 (289-283-269), five strokes behind Florida Southern, which captured the team title at 28-under 836. The Hurricanes finished 27 strokes ahead of third-place Oklahoma Christian, which posted a 4-over 868.
The tournament gave GSW an early look at the course that will host the NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship May 17-21, 2027.

The Hurricanes saved their best golf for the final round. Sam Brown fired a 7-under 65, Juan Velásquez followed with a 6-under 66 and Jordan Jones added a 5-under 67 as GSW’s four counting scores combined for the record-setting 19-under round. Sacha Corlouer’s 1-under 71 completed the 269.

Four Hurricanes finished inside the top 10 individually, led by Velásquez, who placed fourth at 7-under 209 (73-70-66). The newcomer saved his best round for Tuesday, carding six birdies and an eagle on the par-5 10th en route to his 66.

Corlouer and Brown tied for fifth at 6-under 210. Corlouer was under par in all three rounds, posting scores of 70, 69 and 71 while carding 11 birdies over the 54 holes.

Brown followed rounds of 71 and 74 with a bogey-free 65 in the finale. After making the turn at 1-under, the junior caught fire with a 6-under 30 on the back nine, carding six birdies over his final nine holes. Brown also led the entire 57-player field in par-4 scoring for the tournament, playing those holes at 8-under with a 3.73 average.

Jones gave GSW its fourth top-10 finisher, placing 10th at 2-under 214 (75-72-67). Jones closed with a 5-under 67 on Tuesday and finished in impressive fashion, making birdie on No. 17 before an eagle on the par-5 18th.

Elias Järn rounded out the GSW lineup tied for 20th at 5-over 221 (75-72-74). His best round came Monday with an even-par 72 that included four birdies.

The Hurricanes were among the tournament’s best teams across all three hole types. GSW led the field in par-3 scoring with a 3.13 average and ranked second in both par-4 and par-5 scoring. The Hurricanes played the par-4s at an even-par 4.00 average and attacked the par-5s to the tune of 24-under with a 4.60 average. GSW recorded two eagles during the tournament, both coming in the final round from Velásquez and Jones.

Florida Southern’s Jack VanderSchuur earned individual medalist honors at 13-under 203 (68-71-64), two strokes ahead of Oklahoma Christian’s Christian Yanovitch.

The Champion Course played as a par 72 at 7,027 yards, with the 57-player field averaging 74.61 strokes per round.
