Report: UGA offensive coordinator Jim Chaney headed to rival Tennessee
Field Level Media
Georgia offensive coordinator Jim Chaney is expected to take the same position at Tennessee, according to multiple reports Tuesday night.
The official announcement could come Wednesday.
Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt has been searching for an offensive coordinator since November, when OC Tyson Helton left the program to take over as head coach at Western Kentucky.
This would be the second stop at Tennessee for Chaney, who was on the staff there from 2009-12 and worked under coaches Lane Kiffin and Derek Dooley.
Chaney has led the Georgia offense for three seasons. In 2018, Georgia’s offense ranked 14th nationally in scoring (37.9 points per game) and 16th in rushing offense (238.8 yards).
Georgia, which finished its season 11-3, lost defensive coordinator Mel Tucker in December when he was named head coach at Colorado.
On Tuesday, Georgia was given 12-1 odds to win the College Football Playoff following the 2019 season, tied for the third-best odds in the country.
