ASU baseball enjoys strong weekend
The Albany State baseball team had a strong weekend road trip, picking up three victories at Morehouse.
The Golden Rams won Friday’s games 11-8 and 12-6, then they picked up an 8-7 victory Saturday.
Albany State (19-15, 10-4 SIAC) hosts Georgia College at 4 p.m. on Tuesday before closing out the regular-season home schedule Friday (6 p.m. single game) and Saturday (1 p.m. doubleheader) against Paine.
Rams softball rolls to weekend sweep
Albany State’s softball team scored 60 runs over the weekend in a three-game sweep of Paine.
The Golden Rams beat Paine 22-0 in a single game Friday, then they took 19-2 and 19-0 wins Saturday to improve to 16-0 in SIAC play.
ASU (21-19 overall) plays its final regular-season home game at 3 p.m. on Wednesday against Auburn-Montgomery.
Deerfield-Windsor defeats Westover
A six-run fourth inning helped Deerfield-Windsor’s baseball team defeat Westover 15-7 on Saturday.
Baylin Moore went 3-for-4 with two RBI for Deerfield-Windsor, while Bo Bueschen went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI. Bueschen had a triple, while Clarke Sullivan connected on a home run.
Kedarrius Cunningham went 3-for-4 for Westover, while Cameron Hopkins drove home three runs.
Joe Morgan was the winning pitcher, while Davis Spalinger took the loss. Each pitcher of record struck out six.
Georgia Christian tops Sherwood
Georgia Christian defeated Sherwood Christian 15-5 in GICAA baseball action Saturday.
Hayden Rish and Patrick Burke each had two hits for Sherwood.
