MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | The Golden Rams softball team began the 2019 season on Saturday in the Georgia College Tournament and lost a doubleheader against the Mountain Lions of Young Harris College

Game 1

The Albany State bats were stifled early as the Golden Rams took three innings to pick up their first hit, a single from Amaya Terry.

Down just 2-0 entering the 5th inning, ASU used a two-out rally that included Kendyl Davis reaching on an error followed by back-to-back singles to plate the first run of the season.

Young Harris would answer back in the home half by scoring four runs on five hits to take the first game 6-1.

Aryn McGowan (0-1) went all 6.0 innings in the loss surrendering six runs on eight hits with two strikeouts.

Game 2

After falling behind 3-0 in game two, Albany State battled back in the bottom of the 3rd inning, using four hits to push three runs across highlighted by Jaylyn Norman’s two-RBI single through the left side.

It was all Young Harris after that as the Mountain Lions scored 13 unanswered runs to win the game 16-3.

Lauren Lowery (0-1) went the distance for the Golden Rams, pitching all seven innings.
