LEESBURG — One by one, they took their seats, signed their names and looked out over the field where their high school careers had unfolded.

Seven Lee County seniors made their college plans official Wednesday, signing national letters of intent during a ceremony in the school’s lecture hall overlooking Trojan Field and pushing the program’s total signees for the year to eight.

Defensive end Martin Atkins was the first to sign. The 6-foot-2 senior will continue his football career at Florida Memorial University, becoming part of the Lions’ program in Miami Gardens.

Running back Canton Williams and defensive back Jairous Maddox each chose LaGrange College, while four Trojans opted to stay close to home and play for the Albany State Golden Rams. Quarterback Marcus Snipes, linebackers Jaylon Carolina and Jayden Hudson, and defensive lineman DJ Johnson will all suit up in blue and gold at the next level.

Lee County’s eighth signee, defensive back Lasiah Jackson, signed with Stanford University during the early signing period in December.

The group represents the core of a Lee County team that finished the 2025 season with an 8-4 record, navigating a demanding schedule and advancing to the postseason.

Wednesday’s ceremony offered a moment to pause — not just to celebrate the next step for the seniors, but to recognize a class that helped sustain Lee County’s reputation as one of Southwest Georgia’s most consistent football programs.

For the Trojans, the signatures marked both an ending and a beginning — one last look at the field they helped define, and a first step toward what comes next.
