‘Steel Magnolias’ a success at Andrew College

CUTHBERT — Andrew College’s theater department brought comedy and portraits of female strength and friendship to Cuthbert as it presented ‘Steel Magnolias’ during four performances in November. Because the production was an associate entry, Jazmine Curry and Hannah Sims — two student actors in the play — were nominated to participate in next year’s Irene Ryan Acting Auditions at the University of South Carolina-Upstate.

“I am so pleased at the reception to our work as well as by the support of the administration and the community,” Director Deborah Liss-Green said. “I am particularly grateful to the local businesses, especially Lisa’s Beauty Salon and Nellie Packard’s Finery, that loaned us furnishings for the show.”
