LEESBURG — Personality, brains, and athletic ability — the total package. That could describe the final member of the Albany Herald’s 2023 “Fantastic Fifteen” — Lee County running back Ousmane Kromah.

“The thing about Ousmane is that as great as a football player he is,” Coach Dean Fabrizio said. “he is an even better teammate and person.”

A year ago when he was nominated for the Albany Herald’s “Fantastic Fifteen,” Lee County running back Ousmane Kromah said he was not worried about college recruiting at that time and that he would think about that later. But now?

“I’ve got to get more in tune with it. I’ve got to look at that but right now I am just focused on my team and getting better,” Kromah said in an interview before the season began. “I might make some decisions next summer.”

And while he may be starting the process of choosing where he might end up in college, the offers continue to flow in. The University of Miami was the latest to jump into the Ousmane Kromah sweepstakes with an August 17 offer, according to 247sports.con. Kromah now has 19 Power Five offers including college football giants Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and more.

In what may or may not be a hint to the future, Kromah has had one official visit and two unofficial visits to Florida State.

Listed on 247sports as 5’11 and 205, Kromah now tops out at around 6’1 and 215 and he is still working to improve his game.

“I want to improve my top speed and be a more vocal leader,” Kromah answered when asked what he was working on before the season. “I”m going to do me. I am going to stay true to who I am,” he said. “I am a team guy, but I have set a goal for All-State and would like to get 2,000 yards this year.”

Currently rated as a four-star college prospect and the number five running back in the country, he ran for more than 1,500 yards as a sophomore with 20 touchdowns. He began the season Friday night with two crucial fourth-quarter touchdowns to help his Trojans beat Warner Robins and finished the night with 168 yards on 19 carries.

Kromah and his Trojans have set goals to be in the state championship conversation this year, and the junior running back thinks he knows what his team needs to do to get there.

“We’ve got to work harder,” Kromah said. “When we get in those close situations late in the game, we have to be able to execute without being tired. I see every single one of us working harder and I believe we will get there because of that.”

Kromah has a 3.7 GPA at Lee County High School and plans to major in a science field when he does get to college. He is the son of Elizabeth Teah of Leesburg.
