ALBANY – Three gospel music stars are performing in Albany in December as part of the “Worship Live! Holiday Tour.”

Award-winning musicians Fred Hammond, Todd Dulaney and James Fortune will be at the Albany Civic Center Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. for a night of music and worship. Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler is presenting the concert with the Flint River Entertainment Complex providing the venue.

“It’s giving God praise and giving Him thanks for the things He’s done,” Fowler said. “We have a lot of negative things happening in Albany, but I’m trying to find something positive that we can do here.”

Fowler said one thing the city has to be thankful for is that Hurricane Helene bypassed Albany at the end of September. What looked like it would be a direct hit to the city that was hurt by Hurricane Michael in 2018 and tornadoes in 2017, ended up shifting paths east at the last minute, leaving Albany all but untouched by the storm’s damage.

Fowler presented a comedy show during COVID-19 in 2020.

“I was just trying to put some smiles on people’s faces,” he said.

This show filled Albany’s Municipal Auditorium, with tickets selling out.

“We had no room in the auditorium, so that’s why I decided to go to the Civic Center this time,” Fowler said.

He called the concert’s performers renowned gospel singers.

Hammond, who is a Grammy Award-winning artist, is a pioneering figure in gospel music, credited with creating the Urban Praise & Worship genre. He’s sold more than 8 million albums as both a solo artist and a member of the group Commissioned.

Dulaney is a Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter. He’s known for his scripture-inspired worship anthems. His chart-topping discography includes “Your Great Name” and “Anthems and Glory.”

Fortune, a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and producer, is known for his “emcee” style, which is inspired by gospel singer Kirk Franklin. Fortune has released 12 albums, including “My Life,” which details his personal struggles with depression and anxiety.

Tickets are on sale now. They can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or in person at the Georgia’s Own Box Office at the Albany Civic Center.

Tickets begin at $36, and seats can be chosen online at Ticketmaster’s site.
