EATONTON — Science fiction author Kim Conrey will be the Georgia Writers Museum “Meet the Author” presenter Feb. 7. She will talk about her book, “Stealing Ares,” at the museum at 7 p.m.

Readers who have enjoyed high-adventure movies like “Dune,” “The Matrix” or “Blade Runner” will be right at home with Conrey’s work. Her thrilling sci-fi book keeps readers on the edge of their seats until its surprising finale.

Admission is $45 ($40 for a couple). Following the presentation, Conrey will sign books. The science fiction-themed event will feature a “moon”-shine tasting along with finger foods and out-of-this-world desserts like Moon Pies, Milky Ways, and Mars bars.

“Stealing Ares” takes place in the 25th century, when the caldera under Yellowstone National Park erupts and spreads ashen death across the Earth, which can no longer supply the struggling colony on Mars. Worse, the HMS Ares, the grandest starship of all time, goes dormant when Mars needs her most. The Red Planet is ripe for revolution, but Harlow Hanson, a thief who struggled most of her life to speak, becomes the only one capable of saying the words that wake the sleeping ship and save the broken colony.
