Gail Bale’s Summer 2016 Teen Art Camp for ages 13-18 has two sessions June 6-10 and 13-17, both 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Albany Area Arts Council, 215 N. Jackson St. Participants receive in-depth instruction and training in a variety of disciplines from professional artists through practice, lectures, projects and collaborative instruction; and explore media including drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture. ALBANY STATE
BYE (Black Youth Entrepreneurship) Workshop is June 6-10 and acquaints high school students with entrepreneurship and building skills for personal growth and development. Open to high school students in the Southwest Georgia area, the program includes speakers, cultural and recreational activities, microcomputer exercises, classroom sessions and field trips. J.W. Holley Summer Institute is June 5-July 1 for graduating high school seniors who plan to attend ASU in fall 2016 semester. Program is to strengthen participants’ academic skills. National Summer Transportation Institute is June 1-30. Applications available from area high schools or from ASU Department of Criminal Justice, Psychology and Sociology. Purpose of the summer program is to expose minority high school students in grades 9-12 to career opportunities in transportation industry. National Youth Sports Program (NYSP) Summer Camp is June 1-July 1 for ages 9-15. Camp is Mondays-Fridays 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Academic program consists of math, science and language arts. Daily activities include swimming, basketball, tennis, modern dance, flag football and kickball. Program at ASU HPER Gym provides two hot meals daily and a free physical for all participants. Science Will Amaze Them (SWAT) Team Summer Program is a June 6-July 14 research-based summer experience for high school juniors and seniors interested in a degree in biomedical sciences or mathematics. Program is Mondays-Thursdays 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Program introduces students to college life through participation in college preparatory course work and conducting research with ASU faculty. Solar Camp: Department of Natural & Forensic Sciences of Albany State University (ASU) will host a summer camp to expose middle and high school students to solar energy with sponsorship of Constellation Energy, an Exelon Company. Located at ASU’s BCB Building rooms 230-232, camp activities include Mondays: Basic study of solar cell & series/parallel operation, 1 p.m.-3 p.m., 3 p.m.-4 p.m., Solar cell Current/Voltage/Power measurement; Wednesday: 1 p.m.-3 p.m., Solar cell preparation from raw materials, part 1, 3 p.m.-4 p.m., Solar car assembly, part 1; Thursday, 1 p.m.-2 p.m., Solar cell preparation, part 2 and testing, 2 p.m.-4 p.m., Solar car assembly, part 2, and test run; Friday, reserved. ASU BASKETBALL
Albany State University Golden Rams Basketball Team Camp is at 2 p.m. June 3 and 9 a.m. June 4 at the university. High school and middle school teams visit the ASU campus and compete against teams from several states. Camp is combined with Georgia High School Association Basketball Officials Training Camp. Teams have option of staying and eating on campus. Camp cost: varsity team, $300; junior varsity, $200; middle school, $150.

BYNE CHURCH

CAMP CHEHAW
Camp Chehaw is an overnight camping experience for boys and girls ages 8-14 with weeklong camps scheduled for June 12-18 and 19-25 and July 10-16, and four-day camps scheduled June 12-15 and 19-22 and July 6-9 and 10-13. Campers will participate in outdoor activities including archery, canoeing, hiking and survival skills, sleep in tee-pees and make behind-the-scenes trips to the Chehaw Zoo, which is AZA accredited. CAMP WIREGRASS
Camp Wiregrass at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton is for ages 4-11. The camps provide an interactive and educational environment, with each camp or workshop session offering age-appropriate activities and themes.
Munchkin Camp for ages 4-5 year-olds is May 31-June 3 8:30 a.m.-noon. Campers meet the local animal residents, go on wagon rides and explore the garden. Activities include cane pole fishing, wagon rides, gardening and “old-fashioned” chores. Cost: $60 (includes snack, t-shirt and supplies).
Wilderness 101 for ages 6-8 is June 13-17. Campers explore the forest and learn outdoor survival skills, build shelters, visit the Langdale Nature Center’s resident animals and learn basic orienteering skills. Cost: $110 (includes snack, t-shirt, supplies, afternoon water games; camper brings sack lunch).
Step Back in Time for ages 6-8 is June 27-July 1. Campers explore Georgia history from the early Native American to the late 19th century, participating in archery, cane pole fishing, historic baseball, wagon rides and traditional games. Good Ole Days for ages 9-11 is June 20-24. Campers experience mid-1800s southern Georgia culture through activities such as wool processing, wagon rides, cane pole fishing and traditional games. Cost: $110 (includes snack, t-shirt, supplies, afternoon water games; camper brings sack lunch).
Victorian Adventures for girls ages 8-12 is June 6-10. Campers explore high society and the working class, learning how to host tea time, play games, cook a traditional 1800s meal and embroider. Week ends campers hosting afternoon tea for a special invited guest. Girls will need a clean, white shirt. CENTER OF REFUGE
Center of Refuge’s Summer Reading & Tutorial Program for ages 4-12 is 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Mondays-Fridays May 31-July 15 at 811 W. highland Ave. Six-week program include tutorial programs on reading, math and writing with Georgia certified teacher on-site; field trips, break, lunch and afternoon snack, and t-shirt. C.H.A.M.P.S.
Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety (C.H.A.M.P.S.) Summer Program for boys and girls ages 8-14 is May 31-July 1. Camp is Mondays-Fridays, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (regular day), 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. (extended day).
Campers get diversity in recreation and education, including sessions on gang violence, peer influence, bullying, drugs, alcohol, and get to interact with law enforcement officials. Sponsored by the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office and the Dougherty County School System Police Department, the camp is located at Southside Middle School, 1615 Newton Road.
Cost for camp per week: $35, regular day; $55, extended day. CHEHAW DAY CAMPS
Chehaw has an array of full- and half-day camps for children, with each camp including a trip to the zoo, animal encounters, crafts, games, activities, a snack, Chehaw water bottle and T-shirt. Lunch can be purchased from Chehaw. After-camp care is available until 6 p.m. for $10 per day or $40 per week ($5 and $20 for Chehaw members). Camp Splashdown for ages 4-12 is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 5-10 (cost: $135), 1 p.m.-4 p.m. July 5-8 (cost: $85), and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 11-15 (cost: $135). Campers explore how animals keep cool, even in extreme conditions.
Pirates of the Muckalee for ages 8-12 is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 13-17 and July 5-8, and includes canoe trip on the Muckalee Creek and overnight camping. Cost: $165.
Camp Carnivore for ages 5-12 is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 27-July 1 and July 25-29. Campers spend the week meeting carnivores such as cheetahs and alligators. Cost: $135.
Night Crawlers for ages 5-12 is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 25-29 and includes a special after-dark evening camp, a zoo dinner and optional overnight stay. Cost: $135.
Zoo Keepers 101 for ages 5-12 is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. May 30-June 3 (cost: $115); for ages 4-7 is 9 a.m.-noon, June 13-17 and July 5-8 (cost: $85), and for ages 5-12 is 9 a.m.-3 p.m., July 18-22 (cost: $135). Campers learn about the Chehaw animals and get behind-the-scenes looks at the zoo.
Winging It for ages 4-7 is 1 p.m.-4 p.m., June 13-17. Cost: $85. Campers learn about 15 different bird species at Chehaw, and identifying their behaviors and habitats.
Continental Creatures for ages 5-12 is 9 a.m.-3 p.m., June 20-24 and July 25-29. Cost: $135. Campers “visit” a different continent each day and learn about creatures native to each.
CUB SCOUTS
CSI: Cubs Scout Investigators for boys ages 6-11 (both registered and potential scouts) is 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. June 6-9 and 8 a.m.-noon June 10 at Camp Osborn Boy Scout Camp, 480 Camp Osborn Road, Sylvester. Early drop-off at 7:30 a.m. and late pick-up at 6 p.m. The camp is a Boy Scouts of America South Georgia Council, Chehaw District program. Parents must accompany boys age 6; volunteers with children ages 2 (potty-trained)-5 will have activities as well in the “Tot Lot”; girls ages 6-11 will be able to participate in a “Girl’s Den.”
The week will focus on solving a “crime,” with campers collecting clues from various activities each day. Activities include crafts, games and special guests. Campers bring sack lunches each day and should wear close-toed shoes and camp T-shirt Monday-Thursday.

Amber Miles Softball Day Camp for girls ages 6-14 is June 13-17 and 20-24, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., with extended day available until 5 p.m. Campers are taught fundamentals of hitting, throwing, fielding, catching and position play. Taught by head softball coach Amber Miles, her coaching staff and former Darton State College players. Campers bring sack lunch. Cost; $125, full day; $75, half day ($175 full day or $125 half day if family has two more more campers). Campers learn fundamentals of the sports and should bring a sack lunch.
Boys Basketball Camp for boys who are rising 3rd-6th graders is 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. June 21-23 at Grace Gym, upper campus. Campers will be taught ball-handling, passing and shooting skills. Cost: $75.
Youth Cheerleading Camp for rising 1st-8th graders is 9 a.m.-noon July 25-27 at Henry Gym, upper campus. Aspiring cheerleaders are taught cheers, chants, dances, jumps and techniques; week ends with pep rally.
Robotics for rising 5th-8th graders is 9 a.m.-1 p.m. June 13-17 and July 18-22 at the upper school. Campers work in teams and create. Cost: $195.
Boys Not Allowed for girls rising in 1st-5th grades is 1 p.m.-4 p.m., June 6-10 at the lower school. Campers engage in jewelry design, cookie and cupcake decorating, exercising, reading, fashion and other activities and crafts. Cost: $125.
Jr. Knight Football for rising 4th-8th graders is 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. July 19-21 at Webb Memorial Stadium. Coaching staff works with campers on fundamentals. Campers should bring cleats and tennis shoes. Cost: $75.
Middle School Back 2 School Boot Camp for rising 6th-8th graders is 10 a.m.-noon Aug. 1-3 at the Learning Support Center, upper campus. Campers learn strategies for studying, test preparation, organization and taking notes, and review math rules and work on reading comprehension. Cost: $75.
Knight Baseball School for rising 3rd-7th graders is 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. May 31-June 2 at the DWS baseball field. Coaches work with campers on fundamentals and position-specific training. Cost: $100.
Father/Son Rookie Baseball Camp for ages 4-8 and their fathers is 9 a.m.-noon, June 18 at the DWS baseball field. Focus is on basic skills, sportsmanship and teamwork. Cost: $30.
American Girl Camp for girls who are rising in 1st-5th grades is 9 a.m.-noon July 6-8 at the lower school campus. Campers explore crafts, music and games. Cost: $75.
Camp IgKnight for rising K5-2nd graders is 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. June 20-24 and for rising 3rd-5th graders is 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. July 11-15, both at the lower school. Campers experience activities, games, sports, field trips, crafts and enrichment in the sciences and arts. Snacks provided, but campers should bring sack lunch. Cost: $190 ($100 deposit is non-refundable).
Stages for Ages Drama Camp for rising 1st-6th graders is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 18-22 at the lower school multiplex. Campers learn about drama, makeup, dance and other aspects of theater. Campers should bring sack lunch and drink. Cost: $175.
AJ’s Summer Soccer Academy for K5-4th graders is 9 a.m.-noon, June 13-16 and for 5th-8th graders is 4 p.m.-7 p.m., June 13-16. Campers grouped according to age and experience. Campers should bring ball, shin guards, snack, water bottle and sunscreen. Cost: $90.
Driver’s Ed is 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. May 31-June 3 and June 7-10. Participants learn the fundamentals of safe, responsible driving from instructors who are certified with the Georgia Department of Driver’s Services. Cost: $200.
FAR HORIZONS
Far Horizons Montessori School Summer Camp for ages 2-9 is June 6-July 22. Activities include arts & crafts, yoga, song and dance, spatial engineering, dramatic arts, active play and exercise, reading enrichment, and Friday pizza lunch and water play. Special events include Super Heroes, Princesses & Sorcerers, with campers creating superhero identities; Disguises & Transformers, change identity through fanciful hats, masks and paper crafts, and Fairy Tale Theater, music, drama, costuming and crafts. The Girls Inc. Highly eSTEAMed Summer of Innovation Camp for girls ages 6-18 is 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. May 31- July 15 at 701 Park Place. program is designed to help campers develop enthusiasm for and skills in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) through hands-on activities and field trips. Campers interact with professional women and men currently in STEAM careers. The camp also aimed to encourage girls to develop higher self-esteem, make healthy choices and build character. KICKIN’ IT KARATE
Kickin’ It Camp Karate is for boys and girls ages 6-12 at Brunson Martial Arts, 2610 Dawson Road, Albany. KING’S KIDS
The King’s Kids Production Company in partnership with Sherwood Christian Academy is offering two drama camps for children and youth in grades 1-9.
The Emperor’s New Clothes is 1 p.m.-4:30 p.m. June 13-17.
Willy Wonka Jr. is 10 a.m.-4 p.m. July 18-22.
Both camps are at Sherwood Christian Academy, 1418 Old Pretoria Road. Camp includes script, listening CD and show T-shirt. Each camp week ends with a performance for family and friends.

Lea Henry Basketball Team Camp is June 10-11 at Cavalier Arena on the Darton State College campus. Participating teams engage in two days of competition, with each team playing three games per day officiated by qualified high school officials. Four games on the hour played under one roof. LEA HENRY CAMP OF CHAMPS
Lea Henry’s 31st annual Basketball Camp of Champs has two weeks: July 11-14 at Deerfield-Windsor Upper School and July 18-21 at the Darton State College Cavalier Arena. Full-day camp for ages 7-18 boys and girls are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Half-day camp for ages 5-6 is 9 a.m.-noon. Campers bring sack lunches each day.
Goal is to help players of all abilities improve on the fundamentals of the game. Campers will be divided into groups based on age and ability. The fundamentals of passing, dribbling and shooting, as well as both individual and team offensive and defensive strategies, will be covered by camp staff.
Cost: Full-day camp is $150 per camp or $250 for both; half-day camp is $100 per camp or $150 for both camps.

MT. ZION CHURCH
Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Albany has two summer programs June 6-July 14. Both are Mondays-Thursdays at the church’s 1905 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. location.

NEW VISIONS
New Visions Community Development Affordable Summer Program for ages 5-13 is May 31–July 21, 2016. Camp is Mondays–Fridays 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m.; extended day until 5:30 p.m. Camp offers academic enrichment, sports and recreation, life skills, field trips and meals. RIVERQUARIUM/THRONATEESKA
Adventures in Science and Nature series includes four separate, themed camps. Registration, drop-off and pick-up will occur at the Flint RiverQuarium, and campers will visit Thronateeska Heritage Center each camp day, usually in the afternoons. Campers at each of the camps should bring a sack lunch each day.
Water, Water Everywhere! for ages 5-6 is May 31-June 3, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Campers explore all of the uses of water, where it can be found, who on Earth uses it and how to conserve it. Cost: Members, $110; non-members $120
STEAM Summer Camp for ages 9-12 is June 6-10, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Campers explore science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Cost: Members, $130; nonmembers, $140.
Geology Rocks! for ages 6-9 is June 13-17, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Campers take a walk through Geologic Time and explore all of the geologic wonders around the globe. Cost: Members, $130; non-members, $140.
Deep Spaces for ages 9-12 is June 20-24, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Campers travel deep into the ocean at the Flint RiverQuarium looking for creatures that are rumored to be there, then will blast off into space in the Thronateeska Heritage Center’s Wetherbee Planetarium. Cost: Members, $130; non-members, $140.

Sherwood Baptist Church has two camps available this summer.

SOCIAL ADVENTURES
Social Adventures, a summer group experience for ages 3-21 who have autism spectrum disorders and other related disabilities who demonstrate social challenges, is June 1-17, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Children participating in this program will have the opportunity to learn appropriate social skills through a variety of interactive games, language and sensory activities in a fun, small group setting. STAR K HORSEBACK
Star K Equestrian Center Horseback Riding Camp for ages 8 and older is June 6-10, 9 a.m.-noon. Stonehaven Stables Summer Camp is from Memorial Day until the start of the 2016-17 school year, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. with early drop-off permitted. Campers learn about horses and ponies, their care, grooming, tacking up and riding. Campers bring sack lunches. Activities include games, crafts and swim days. YMCA SUPER SUMMER
YMCA Camp Super Summer for ages 5-7 is at the Central Facility, 1701 Gillionville Road, and for ages 8-14 is at the Sports Park, 4508 Gillionville Road, May 23-July 29. Day camp is Mondays-Fridays 7 a.m.-6 p.m.
Camp offers swimming, sports, crafts, games, field trips, diabetes awareness and prevention, education and special events.

Summer Theater Camp For Kids ages 6-13 is at Lee County High School, from June 20-17 and June 27-30 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Camp offers study in acting, singing and dancing, with a performance of “School House Rock” on June 30.
