TIFTON — The U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers Chorus will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Tift County High School Performing Arts Center, a bonus event in the 2015-16 performing arts series at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

While admission to the ABAC Presents! Performing Arts Series concert is free, a ticket is required to attend. ABAC Arts Connection Director Wayne Jones says free tickets can be reserved online at www.purplepass.com/abac or by phone at (229) 391-4895.

Organizers also are encouraging those who attend the performance to bring an unwrapped toy donation for Toys for Tots, was founded by Major Bill Hendricks of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in 1947. The Student Veterans group, the ABAC Cattlemen’s Club, and Brother 2 Brother will be on hand to help members of the military collect toy donations.

The U.S. Army Field Band of Washington, D.C. is the Army’s premiere touring musical representative and has been performing for audiences for more than 60 years. The group travels thousands of miles annually presenting a variety of music throughout the nation and overseas.

The Soldiers’ Chorus, founded in 1957, is the vocal complement of the Army Field Band. The 29-member mixed choral ensemble performs as a separate component and in joint concerts with the Concert Band as the “Musical Ambassadors of the Army.” The chorus has entertained audiences in all 50 states, as well as in Canada, Mexico, India, Asia, and throughout Europe.

ABAC Presents! is supported in part by Georgia Council for the Arts through the appropriations of the General Assembly. Georgia Council for the Arts also receives support from its partner agency — the National Endowment for the Arts.
