Although county leaders stand by the Lee County Parks and Recreation Authority’s decision to cease golf operations at Grand Island Golf Club on Dec. 15, the decision seems to have little immediate bearing on the future of the planned $50 million hospital expected to be built on the golf course property.

Area golfer Tom Riley holes a putt on the ninth hole at Grand Island golf course while his playing partner, Mike Morey, looks on. Riley and Morey will have only a few more weeks to play the Lee County-owned course since the decision was made earlier this week to cease all golf course operations on Dec. 15.
