HEALTH/FITNESS

Transforming 2 Wellness will be conducted 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. April 29 at the Moultrie Technical College auditorium, 800 Veterans Parkway North, Moultrie. Conference highlights area resources for people to access the support and care they need to achieve and sustain long-term recovery from mental health challenges and substance use. Lifeguard Certification Courses: YMCA lifeguard certification classes are conducted on a Friday-Tuesday schedule 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at Central Facility YMCA, 1701 Gillionville Road. All classes in the four-day series must be attended to earn certification. Prerequisites: A participant must be able to swim 300 meters (freestyle and breaststroke), retrieve a 10-pound brick from the bottom of the pool, and tread water for at least two minutes. Course is taught through the American Red Cross and the Lifeguard / First Aid / CPR/AED certifications are valid for two years. Cost: $150, YMCA member; $175, non-member.
