Albany meeting to discuss illegal drug use

ALBANY — The use of illegal and intoxicating drugs by teenagers and others will be the topic of discussion at Town Hall meeting on Saturday, according to Jon Howard, City of Albany Mayor Pro Tem and Ward I commissioner.

Addressing community members at the meeting will be Maj. Bill Berry with the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit, Howard said. Illegal drugs include crack cocaine, methamphetamine, benzodiazepines, opiates and even prescription drugs, Howard said.

There is no cost to attend the community meeting which will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the East Albany Community Center at 1721 E. Oglethorpe Blvd. Participants are encouraged to invite neighbors, friends and family members to attend.
