ALBANY — Aside from two fatal shootings, there were at least two other crimes involving firearms the Albany Police Department responded to over the weekend, available reports show.
Officers responded to 112 N. Haley St., Apt. 3, in reference to an aggravated assault at around 5 p.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival contact was made with the victim, a 73-year-old man. The man reported that his next-door neighbor pointed a black handgun at him and threatened to kill him, said Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD.
There were no injuries reported in connection to the incident, Banks said.
The other assault is reported to have taken place at around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at Crawford Drive and Van Deman Street, reports show.
One of the victims said unknown suspects fired five or six gun shots at him as he walked through the intersection of Crawford Drive and Van Deman Street. He ran into his residence on the 1100 block of Crawford Drive to call the police department. The suspects fired one gunshot at his wife. Both victims advised they heard the bullet projectiles whisk pass them, Banks said.
There are no known witnesses or suspects to this incident. This case has been forwarded to the APD Detectives Bureau, Banks said.
