Calhoun County Health Department temporarily reducing hours because of broken air conditioner

MORGAN — Officials with the Southwest Public Health District said Monday that one of its county health departments will temporarily be going to a shorter schedule.

For the next few days, the Calhoun County Health Department will limit its hours of operation to 8 a.m.-noon because of broken air-conditioning equipment. Officials said extreme heat makes conditions too dangerous to keep the building open as the temperatures rise late in the day. The National Weather Service on Monday said the heat index in the Albany area would be as high as 104 degrees Tuesday.

Officials say the health department is endeavoring to have the equipment repaired as quickly as possible.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” said Calhoun County Health Department Manager Peggy Jackson.
