ALBANY — The Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office expects to announce findings from an investigation launched this week involving the Dougherty County Tax Office.

The Dougherty County Commission released a statement Wednesday confirming that the sheriff’s office questioned an employee with the Tax Office the previous day. The interview with the employee was part of a larger investigation, Dougherty County Sheriff Kevin Sproul told The Albany Herald.

“We were notified (last week) about some improprieties that may be going on,” he said. “We’re still questioning people. We’ve interviewed several people and have got more to go. I can’t say much on it right now because we’re actively working it.”

Sproul said he could not address the nature of the complaint at this time. The sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division is handling the case.

“We’re doing a thorough investigation,” the sheriff said.
