ALBANY — Real estate agents from the Albany area were honored at the Reaching for the Stars in 2016 Albany Board of Realtors annual awards banquet held last week at The Bindery at Oakland Library.

George Rosso, of Century 21 Town and Country Realty, was named Realtor of the Year, while the Rookie of the Year award went to Dawn Hobby, an agent with Coldwell Banker Walden and Kirkland.

ReMax of Albany’s Leigh Windham received the Professionalism Award, and the Community Service/Good Neighbor Award went to Debbie Fulford with ReMax. Forty-five agents received Presidential Achievement Awards for individually closing at least $1 million in sales in 2015, officials with Albany Board of Realtors said.

The event also included tributes to the late Murray Webb, founder of Webb Properties, and the late Maj. Gen. Emmett Bowers, an associate broker who worked with Webb. Both Bowers and Webb passed away in 2015.

The Realtor of the Year Award and Professional Award both go back to 1983.

Officials say the board strives to promote and maintain high standards of conduct in the real estate industry, and to protect the interests of south Georgia homeowners. The Albany Board of Realtors currently has 222 members.
