ALBANY — Multiple units from the Albany Fire Department (AFD) were dispatched to a house fire on the 1700 block of Schley Avenue Tuesday afternoon after someone inside the residence reported seeing smoke coming from the attic.
According to AFD Assistant Fire Chief Rubin Jordan, the call came in at approximately 2:38 p.m. Three fire engines and one aerial truck responded to the scene after the extent of the fire was known.
“Once they (inhabitants) got outside they saw the roof was on fire,” Jordan said.
Jordan said the first responders on the scene confirmed the house was on fire and that firefighters were able to get the fire under control shortly after arriving on the scene.
Jordan also said that AFD investigator Sam Harris was also dispatched to the scene because more than 50 percent of the structure had been burned
Albany Police and Dougherty County EMS who were on the scene of the incident said that no injuries had been reported.
