ALBANY — The Albany Police Department has launched an investigation into a home invasion incident on Wednesday after a resident was grazed by a bullet.
Officers responded to an apartment on the 1400 block of Whispering Pines Road at 3:21 p.m. The victim reported an unknown tall slim man forced open the front door by kicking it in, ordering him to “give up what he had.”
“Once inside, the suspect demanded money at gunpoint,” Phyllis Banks, a spokeswoman for APD, said. “Having nothing to give up, the victim pleaded with the suspect not to shoot but he did anyway.
“The suspect fired a shot inside the apartment, which grazed the top of (the victim’s) head.”
Banks said the suspect fled the scene, possibly getting into a vehicle that appeared to look like a gray Chevrolet Equinox. The victim was treated at the scene by Dougherty County EMS and is fine, according to a news release by APD.
Banks said investigators responded to the scene. No suspect was in custody on Thursday.
