ALBANY — At least two Albany business burglaries remained under investigation on Tuesday, and a suspect from at least one incident had yet to be identified, officials with the Albany Police Department said.

Officers responded shortly before 1 a.m. on Monday to Enterprise Rent-A-Car at 407 Sands Drive, where a large hole was discovered in the front glass window, a report on the incident said.

The report said a protective sweep was done for suspects with no results while an employee responded to the scene along with additional officers and the APD Crime Scene Unit. Surveillance video was pulled, and it was revealed that two men approached the front of the store.

One man was carrying a silver Honda rim and threw it into the front glass window. Both suspects finished kicking the glass in, entered the store and started going through drawers and cabinets.

The men exited the store with one of them carrying a black Samsung tablet, valued at $500, before fleeing on foot, the report said.

The report said both suspects were black males. One was wearing dark-colored shorts, a black and gray sweatshirt, and a black mask with a white glove on one hand and his sleeve covering the other.

The second suspect was wearing a red hoodie and black pants with a white stripe on the side, with white gloves on his hands and his face covered. The case remained active on Tuesday.

Another burglary was reported on Friday at 11 a.m. at Tate’s Liquors at 2424 Sylvester Road. Phyllis Banks, a spokeswoman for APD, said an unknown man entered the store, got a can of soda out of the cooler near the front door and waited until the clerk’s back was turned.

Banks said that at that point the man walked into the rear “employee only” area where the store’s office is located. He entered the restricted area and opened several drawers, taking a large amount of cash as well as a check from one of the drawers.

The subject left the area in an unknown direction with a Sprite can in hand that he also stole from the store. He had yet to be identified on Tuesday, Banks said.
