ALBANY — The Albany Police Department is investigating a robbery by sudden snatching reported at a south Albany business Saturday evening.
Phyllis Banks, a spokeswoman for APD, said officers responded just before 8 p.m. Saturday to National Package Store at 301 W. Oakridge Drive.
Banks said one of the witnesses of the robbery, a 47-year-old woman, told police that the suspect entered the store and brought a can of beer to the register. He paid for the beer, and when the register opened for his change, he jumped across the counter and took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.
The suspect fled the scene and got into a gray Honda minivan. No known weapon was connected to the incident, Banks said.
