ALBANY — The Albany Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that occurred Wednesday afternoon on Willard Avenue.

“The white Range Rover used in the aggravated assault at 514 Willard was abandoned and recovered last night in the 800 block of West Society Avenue,” APD spokeswoman Phyllis Banks said. “The vehicle was reported stolen out of Florida.”

According to reports, officers responded to a call in reference to discharging firearms at 5:22 p.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, shell casing were found in the road and impact sites were visible on the exterior of the residence.

“At 514 Willard, there were at least five markings on the exterior wall consistent with being hit by bullets,” Officer Jonathan Lee wrote in the report. “There were three on the northwest corner of the residence, one north-center at the eve of the roof, and one in the front door.”

According to Lee, the bullet that struck the front door went all the way through the residence.

“The round that hit the front door traveled south through the entire house out the south end of the residence,” Lee wrote. “Three rounds hit the northwest bedroom. There were two paths that leads to the southwest bedroom. One spent round was located in the southwest bedroom in the east wall. It is unknown the location of the other two rounds.”

Resident Melissa Boone was at home during the assault, according to reports.

“The resident, Melissa Boone, advised she was in the living room when her house was hit with multiple rounds,” Lee wrote. “She advised she does not know why her resident was targeted.”

The case has been forwarded to APD’s Investigation Bureau and Gang Unit, officials said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Albany Police Department at (229) 431-2100 or Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477).
